Matcha Latte (dairy-free, sugar-free, Keto, Paleo)
Finally! A great-tasting Matcha Latte that is dairy-free, sugar-free, and low carb/high fat. It is important for all of us to get enough micronutrients but particularly for those of us on a Ketogenic Diet. My plant-heavy Pure Keto Reset has a dietary focus high in micronutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, and flavonoids so that your body can make the metabolic shift more easily.
The most common issues of trying to become fat-adapted too quickly are constipation, muscle cramps, low electrolytes, fatigue, headaches, moodiness, and low vitamins, and minerals. Make sure your diet consists of plenty of cooked or raw greens and colorful vegetables, adding superfoods like flax, chia, hemp, cacao, coffee, vanilla powder, green tea, matcha tea, herbs, and spices will help to ensure your body will run efficiently.
Enter Matcha…… a true superfood. Matcha is really just green tea powder but a concentrated, nutrient-dense form about 10 times higher in antioxidants than one cup of green tea. Green tea powder has been shown to build immunity, lower blood pressure, promote detoxification, help stabilize blood sugar, and it has powerful anti-aging effects.
Having a Matcha Latte can be a perfect way to extend your intermittent fast or get you through the afternoon. I always introduce intermittent fasting to participants in my plant-based Pure Keto Rest program. If they are finding it difficult, I suggest starting the morning with fat, in the form of MCT Oil or MCT Oil Powder, and ghee mixed into your coffee, tea, or in this case a Matcha Latte. This can help you extend your fasting window and just consuming fat alone will not take you out of nutritional ketosis.
To create these fat-fueling drinks try adding 1 tsp.-2 tbsp. of grass-fed ghee and 1 tsp.-2 tbsp. quality MCT Oil or MCT Oil Powder to your hot drink. You can blend it for 20 seconds in a blender or froth it with a hand-held milk frother. This process disperses the fat molecules for easier digestion and absorption.
Some days you may need more than just a fatty drink. Adding a scoop of collagen protein will help keep your hormones balanced, increase your metabolic rate, and energize you for the day. For all of us when we are not fasting we concentrate on protein, fiber, and healthy fats for our first meal of the day. Collagen protein is a great way to get in some great quality, easily digestible protein
Matcha is full of beneficial micronutrients. Micronutrients are critical nutrient compounds for our bodies. They help remove free radicals, reduce oxidized LDLs formed from a combination of free radicals and cholesterol, and micronutrients are naturally low in calories giving our bodies what they need to build our immune system and avoid disease, reverse disease, and function properly. Increasing your antioxidant levels through a focus on micronutrients will help to combat all the free radicals obtained internally, from processing glucose, exercise, and stress, and from external sources like chemicals, toxins, and pollution.
Matcha Latte
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tsp matcha powder
- 1 scoop Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder vanilla
- 1/4 cup coconut milk, full-fat
- 1 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/4 tsp. ginger powder
- dash cinnamon
- 1 scoop collagen protein optional
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a blender or mug.
- Blend on high for 20 seconds in a blender* or froth it with a handheld milk frother. This process disperses the fat molecules for easier digestion and absorption as well as makes it an enticing foamy drink. If frothing in your mug, fill it only halfway, froth, and then add the remaining boiling water.
Notes
You can use 1Tbsp. MCT Oil in the place of MCT Oil Powder.
It’s important to watch the level of sweetness. If you are using flavored MCT Oil Powder you may want to make sure that your collagen protein in unflavored. Likewise, if you use MCT Oil that is unflavored be sure to add a quality flavored collagen protein or play around with 4-8 drops of flavored liquid stevia. *If you are new to MCT oil and MCT Oil Powder please start with only 1 tsp. at a time as it can cause diarrhea if your body is not accustomed to it. You can increase your amount as your body adjusts.
