Keto Paleo Fudge (with a peppermint option!)
Did you know that this keto paleo fudge could be considered a healthy food? At least that’s how I feel about it!
It’s Keto, Low carb, sugar-free, and dairy-free making it the perfect sweet treat to curb those sugar cravings or a quick snack to hold you over to your next meal.
And because it is low in sugar, it can help keep your blood-sugar balanced because it doesn’t send it skyrocketing after you eat it! In my book… that’s healthy food!
I love making this fudge during the winter holiday season. It’s got a deep nutty, chocolate flavor, that you’ll love sinking your teeth into.
What’s in this Fudge?
There are only 5 required ingredients in this Keto Paleo fudge and that includes:
Dark chocolate, sweetened with stevia (such as Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips which you can find on Thrive Market)
Coconut oil
Coconut cream
Vanilla extract, and
Sea salt
I also give you the option to add a bit more sweetness using a Keto-friendly sweetener of your choice! I know everyone’s taste buds are different so this allows you to adjust the flavor to your, and your family’s, liking!
Check out my Macadamia nut fudge for a completely different and equally healthy fudge experience that you can sink your teeth into. This particular one even has protein from collagen powder in it!
What are the best Keto friendly Sweeteners to use?
Learning which sweeteners to use and how best to use them is a task and you might be wondering which one is the best to use in this fudge. Check out my article all about sweeteners here to learn all about Keto friendly and natural sweeteners.
This fudge has very little added sweetener and you’ll quickly see it still tastes perfectly sweet. If you desire your fudge a little extra sweet this season then try stevia or powdered erythritol. They both have a good taste and offer the perfect balance of sweetness for this fudge.
One small tip: make sure you use powdered erythritol instead of granular so it will fully dissolve.
While I believe naturally derived, low-glycemic sweeteners are better for your body you may also use small amounts of Paleo sweeteners like coconut sugar and honey but this will increase your carb count so try not to overdo it to ensure it doesn’t spike your blood sugar!
What I like about this fudge is how low in carbs it is. Each serving is less than 9 net carbs!
There are a few real health benefits inside this Keto Paleo Fudge
In case you are still wondering whether or not to try this recipe, let me remind you… it’s actually good for you!
As a snack, this fudge can help your body stay energized, function better, and just plain make you feel good (because who doesn’t love a little chocolate now and then!) And if Ketosis is your thing then you can be assured this fudge won’t knock you out of it! So about those health benefits…
First, there’s the cacao! Cacao – which is different from “cocoa” so make sure you buy the right product! – is associated with an increase in focus and may even stimulate feelings of bliss and joy.
Then there is coconut oil which is antimicrobial and can help to improve gut function and keep you regular too.
And lastly, the healthy fats from chocolate and coconut are super satiating and will help keep your cravings down and keep you from feeling hungry, making this the perfect weight management treat!
One of my favorite things about this fudge is its versatility! There are several easy ways to change the flavor:
Add peppermint essential oil
Add several drops of peppermint oil to the recipe, about 10-12 and this will create my favorite flavor which is peppermint fudge. Peppermint is the perfect holiday flavor! And if you happen to be a fan of peppermint you should also check out my peppermint bark recipe to.
Make it sweet and salty by adding coarse sea salt
Salted chocolate is just as good as salted caramel and adding some coarse sea salt can give it that perfect balance of sweet and salty! Coarse sea salt crystals bring out the flavor of chocolate and even provide you with additional minerals (more health benefits!)
Give it a crunch by adding chopped nuts or shredded coconut
Macadamia and pecans have a low carbohydrate count, so they are a good choice to add on top of your fudge. Chop them up into small pieces and sprinkle them on top before the fudge hardens. Coconut flakes sprinkled on top will also add taste and texture.
Add peanut butter or another nut butter
Some of us can’t resist the combination of peanut butter and chocolate! For those of you who are following a strict Paleo diet, peanut butter won’t work since peanuts are a legume and not a real nut. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use your favorite nut butter instead, like cashew or almond butter!! Something else to consider with nut butters: many of them contain added sugars so be sure to check the ingredients and carb count if you are adhering to a Ketogenic diet!
Okay okay – now that I’ve talked it up… it’s time for you to give it a try! I know you won’t be disappointed!

Notes
You may choose to add 1-2 tablespoons of Swerve confectioners sugar or a few drops of liquid stevia to sweeten this fudge to your liking. Taste your mixture before your pour it into the molds. I find this fudge recipe is absolutely sweet enough due to the dark chocolate but please make sure it suits your taste buds perfectly!
Luckily, we have some great unrefined sweetener choices to add in.
Change up the flavor of this fudge by adding 1/4 cup of almond butter, sunflower butter, peanut butter, or other nut butter of choice.
