Cauliflower Pizza Crust (egg-free, grain-free, vegan, dairy-free)
Cauliflower pizza crust is like the new kid on the block, it is popular in the Paleo and Keto circles but often is tricky to make. Not this Cauliflower Pizza Crust! You don’t have to cook the cauliflower first, just use your food processor to make cauliflower rice and then add in the rest of the ingredients!
Everyone is talking about cauliflower crust pizza. It’s low in carbs and quite fun to try, but most recipes are packed with eggs and cheese, so if you are avoiding dairy or eggs, the usual cauliflower crust is off-limits.
I’ve made my Cauliflower Pizza Crust egg-free, dairy-free, and grain-free so you can now enjoy your grain-free pizza even if you have dairy and egg allergies.
This one is really easy to make. No pre-cooking of the cauliflower is required! (You do still pre-cook the crust though.)
I use ground flax seeds to replace the eggs, coconut flour to soak up the moisture, and psyllium to help hold it all together. You can pick up the finished pieces just like regular pizza.
You can flavor your crust however you like, I used basil, garlic, and onion in mine. My recipe starts with uncooked cauliflower rice and has just 8 ingredients. It is totally gluten-free and vegan.
Cauliflower Pizza Crust (egg-free, grain-free, vegan, dairy-free)
Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower (cut into florets)
- 6 Tbsp ground flax seed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup coconut flour
- 1/4 cup psyllium husk powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Soak ground flaxseed in ½ cup of water in a small bowl.
- Pulse cauliflower florets in a food processor until the consistency of small cauliflower rice and then place in a medium bowl.
- Add the coconut flour, psyllium, and spices to the cauliflower and mix well.
- Add the soaked flax seed and stir into the cauliflower mixture until well combined.
- Place a piece of parchment paper on top of a baking sheet and oil it very lightly with olive or avocado oil to keep the crust from sticking.
- Spread the cauliflower mixture across the parchment paper with a spatula. It should take up most of the pan and can be made into a large oval. Spread it out until it is about ¼ inch thick all over.
- Bake for 25 minutes. While it is baking place another piece of parchment paper on an additional baking sheet. After the 25 minutes flip the crust onto the new parchment-lined pan.
- Bake an additional 15 minutes on the other side. Now your cauliflower crust is ready.
- Remove crust from oven, put on the topping(s) of your choice, return to oven, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Enjoy!!
Notes
A pizza with a cauliflower crust is best served right out of the oven. With time, the crust can get a little soft as the cauliflower soaks up the tomato or basil sauce.
