Barbeque Seasoning (sugar-free, Paleo)
An easy Barbeque Seasoning mix that you can use as a rub, add to a marinade, or just sprinkle on top of your meat prior to cooking. I use my Barbeque Seasoning on ribs, chicken, and pork and it always gets rave reviews.
I especially love that people love this seasoning AND it’s sugar-free. So many seasoning mixes have added sugar! I often wondered why and how it became common for people to sweeten their barbeque mixes.
We don’t need to sweeten our meat, do we? I cannot remember a time I’ve seen someone rub sugar all over the meat before they cook it, or sprinkle it on meat straight off the grill! Then why oh why is sugar so often an ingredient in spice mixes, rubs, and marinades? If you have a good answer for me, please help me out here.
This Barbeque Seasoning blend is so simple to make. Make extra. Double it so you have it ready to use for your next BBQ. Make even more, enough to keep it as a staple on your pantry shelf. Just like any other spice, it keeps well for a couple of months in an airtight container.
I also have a fabulous Seasoning Mix for my Breakfast Sausage. Enjoy them both! Let me know what you think and all of the ways you use it to make your meals delicious.
Barbecue Seasoning
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. dried oregano
- 1 Tbsp. dried thyme
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 Tbsp. smoked paprika
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sea salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
Instructions
- Mix all of the spices together in a small bowl
- Store in a glass jar with an airtight lid. Try reusing an old spice jar, condiment jar or a small mason jar.
- This recipe makes enough to use with 2-4 meals, depending on how much meat you are preparing. I recently used about a third of one recipe on 3 racks of baby back ribs.
